The garden has stopped being tidy. Something opened by the window this week that was not there in spring. We are leaving it alone until it decides otherwise.

It rained all night. The garden is louder in colour this morning, and the stones along the path are still dark. By afternoon they will have dried back to grey.

Last week an old hinge started giving trouble, so we replaced it with a new one. Watching the old things get swapped out for new ones, one by one, gives you a lot to think about.
